Small and slender, these scorpions are skilled climbers and frequently found inside walls and attics.

Giant Hairy Scorpion
The largest in the U.S., this desert-dwelling scorpion prefers to burrow and is often spotted in dry, open areas.

Helpful FAQs
How do I choose frequency of treatments?
Quarterly pest control is the minimum recommendation to keep most homes pest-free. In some cases—like severe infestations, persistent pests, or warm and wet climates—more frequent visits are needed.
What is the difference between pest control and extermination?
Extermination is often a reactive process aimed at eradicating an existing pest infestation, typically using chemical treatments. It’s a short-term solution designed to eliminate pests quickly without necessarily addressing the root cause or preventing future issues.
Pest Control, on the other hand, is a more comprehensive and proactive strategy. It involves identifying the causes of infestations, implementing preventive measures, and managing pest populations sustainably over time. This may include eco-friendly techniques, habitat modification, and ongoing maintenance to keep pests away in the long term.

Depending on the situation and the coverage offered by your service plan, we may offer a follow-up visit, make adjustments to the products used, or take other steps to address your expectations and the commitments we made in our agreement with you.
How long do I need to stay off treated areas after a service?
We ask that you allow treated areas to completely dry before resuming an activity around those areas. Outside, this usually takes about 30 minutes. Indoors, it can take about an hour, depending on your treatment.
What neighborhoods in Phoenix do you serve?
We provide pest control services across all Phoenix neighborhoods, from Arcadia and Ahwatukee to Roosevelt Row and Maryvale. If you’re not sure we cover your area, just give us a call.
Are your treatments pet- and kid-friendly?
Yes, our safety-conscious Field Experts provide treatments that are pet- and family-friendly. We ask that you follow any instructions from our team and keep children and pets away from treated areas until they’re completely dry, which is typically about 30 minutes outdoors, depending on the weather, and 1 to 3 hours indoors, based on airflow. We might also suggest a few extra precautions if you have fish tanks, bird cages, or terrariums.
What are the most common pests in Phoenix?
Phoenix’s desert climate and warm temperatures make it a hotspot for pests like scorpions, cockroaches, ants, spiders, and rodents. Arizona bark scorpions are especially notorious for sneaking into homes through small cracks, while cockroaches and ants often invade kitchens and bathrooms in search of food and water. Spiders thrive in garages and corners, and rodents may move indoors to escape the summer heat or winter chill. Our general pest service is built to target many common pests with each visit.
Are store-bought pest control products effective?
Store-bought pest products can sometimes kill the bugs you see, but they usually don’t do much to prevent new ones from coming in. Many sprays or traps are meant to be used repeatedly and don’t reach the cracks, voids, or outdoor areas where pests typically hide or enter. Without inspecting the property and understanding the habits of specific pests, it’s easy to miss the conditions that are attracting them in the first place.
Our Field Experts use their daily training to find those problem areas and apply professional-grade products where they’ll be most effective, helping reduce pest activity more reliably and for a longer period of time.
Do you offer mosquito control services in Phoenix?
Yes, we offer monthly Mosquito Control service in Phoenix using targeted fogging treatments to help reduce mosquito populations from March through October. Even in our dry desert climate, standing water from irrigation systems, birdbaths, or clogged gutters can invite mosquitoes into your yard. Mosquito activity in Phoenix typically peaks in July and August, when monsoon rains and added humidity create perfect conditions for breeding. Our treatments are designed to address these seasonal surges and help you reclaim your outdoor spaces.
How do you treat for scorpions in Phoenix?
Our scorpion service focuses on both prevention and control. Field Experts inspect for common entry points like weep holes, foundation gaps, and areas where pipes or wires enter the home; these areas are then treated with specialized products that help create a barrier to keep scorpions out.
We also treat exterior walls, base areas, and harborage zones such as rocks, woodpiles, and shaded spots where scorpions tend to hide. Since scorpions are nocturnal and prefer cool, undisturbed areas, we tailor our treatments to disrupt their hiding places and reduce their presence over time.
What types of cockroaches are common in Phoenix?
American and German cockroaches are the two most common species in Phoenix homes. American cockroaches prefer warm, damp areas like basements, drains, and crawl spaces, while German cockroaches are smaller and often found in kitchens and bathrooms where food and moisture are present.
Our Field Experts are trained to identify the species, locate nesting sites, and apply targeted treatments to disrupt breeding cycles and help prevent future infestations.
How does the Phoenix climate affect pest activity?
Phoenix’s desert climate plays a big role in when and where pests show up. During the summer, extreme heat and dry conditions often drive pests like scorpions, ants, and cockroaches indoors as they search for cooler, more humid environments. Air-conditioned homes, especially those with leaky pipes or shaded areas, become ideal hiding spots. In contrast, the monsoon season brings a sudden spike in moisture and humidity, which can trigger increased breeding activity for pests like mosquitoes, termites, and ants.
Our Field Experts understand these seasonal patterns and adjust treatment strategies throughout the year to address shifting pest behavior.
What are the most common pest issues by season in Phoenix?
Phoenix’s distinct desert seasons influence which pests are most active throughout the year. In spring, rising temperatures wake up ants and wasps, which become more aggressive as they forage and build nests. Summer brings intense heat, pushing scorpions, cockroaches, and rodents to seek shelter inside cooler homes. The added humidity from monsoon storms can also trigger termite swarms and mosquito activity.
In fall, pests like spiders and crickets often move indoors to escape dropping nighttime temperatures. During winter, while many pests slow down, roof rats and mice become more noticeable as they nest in attics, garages, and wall voids.
Each season requires a unique approach, and our Field Experts adjust treatments accordingly to keep your home comfortable year-round.
Why do I see more pests after my first treatment?
It’s common to see more pest activity shortly after your first service. The products we use begin to disrupt nesting areas and hiding spots, causing pests to move around before they die off. This increased visibility is a sign that the treatment is working. As the products continue to take effect, activity typically tapers off within a few days. If pests persist, Moxie offers free warranty reservice between regular visits at no extra cost for customers on a year-round plan.
What to expect
At the beginning of your initial service, your Field Expert will ensure that the service is tailored to your specific needs, so if you have problems such as ants in the kitchen or spiders in the garage, please let us know. This allows us to provide solutions to effectively treat your home.
